All Moldovan universities are supervised by the Ministry of Education. The Ministry of Education and Moldovan universities participate in the Bologna Process, the European program which seeks to coordinate academic standards among 47 countries. The studies are organized based on the European transferable academic credits system (ECTS). ECTS system facilitates the mobility of students in the European Area and recognition of university diplomas. Moldova has bilateral agreements with Turkey, Israel and other countries where diplomas are recognized.
If you register in an academic program where the language of instruction is Romanian or English, you are expected to be proficient one of these languages. If the language of instruction is English, you are not obliged to learn Romanian, but you are strongly encouraged to do so in order to get the most out of your social and cultural experience.
If you want to study at a university in Moldova, but you are not proficient in the language of instruction (Romanian or English), you will have to attend a preparatory year at a Moldovan university to learn the language and several discipline-related subjects.
Admission criteria are established by each host institution, but are typically based on academic results, language skills and other factors.
